Grading Policies
- Grading for exams as well as homework will
be done on a curve
- Four one-hour exams plus a final exam
- Grading Criteria is the following:
- Each of the three semester exams: 15%
(total is 45%)
- Final Exam: 30%
- Homework: 25%
- Late homework will not be accepted. If a student
cannot attend the class when the homework is due, he or she should give
the homework to the TA or the instructor BEFORE the class time. In extenuating
circumstances, please contact your TA and make suitable arrangements.
- Incentives;
- Students who have maintained a total point
average in the top 15% of the class, after the fourth exam, will
have the option of keeping that average and not taking the final exam.
- The students having the top 5 scores on the
final exam will receive an automatic semester grade of "A" for
their good efforts.
- Graduating seniors with an A or B average
after the fourth exam will not have to take the final.
- The lowest of the four regular exams will
be dropped. The final exam grade is not dropped.
