Exam No. 3, Monday, April 19,
Closed Book & Lecture Notes, One 8.5"x11"sheet of equations
(double-sided) and Calculators Allowed.
Exam will cover Chapters 8 and 9
The problems on the exam will be selected to emphasize the concepts
presented in lectures and covered by the assigned homework problems.
- Chapter 8
- Know how to solve the characteristic equation for RLC circuits.
- The circuit will be overdamped, underdamped, or critically damped.
- Learn how to evaluate the boundary conditions for the three cases.
Remember to apply the initial and final value evaluations as well as the
initial derivative values.
- The summary in this chapter is really excellent. Study it in detail
and understand the meaning for all the equations.
- Chapter 9
- Know the meaning of the phasor and be able to plot a phasor diagram.
- Memorize the phasor cosine transform.
- Know the concept of impedance and the equivalent "ohms law"
relationship.
- Be able to work the circuit problems with complex values.
- Know how to do complex algebra with your calculator
